Recreation Center
offering day of free classes

Wheat Ridge residents looking for a new activity can try as many free classes as they would like from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Wheat Ridge Recreation Center, 4005 Kipling St.

Each class is a half-hour long and residents do not need to register or RSVP to participate in Free Demonstration Day.

Classes include nutrition workshops, guitar lessons, youth sports, dance classes, karate, Pilates, Tai Chi, massage, self defense, music lessons and much more.

The recreation center suggests participants wear appropriate and comfortable clothing and athletic shoes for the classes.

featured guest at February’s
“Meet the Artist”

The Wheat Ridge Cultural Commission is hosting its Third Thursday Meet the Artist event at 5:30-7 p.m. today at Teller Street Gallery and Studio, 7190 W. 38th Ave.

This month’s featured artist is Lucie Kiwimagi, an abstract artist who works in mixed media and collage.

Kiwimagi has studied drawing and painting in the Silvermine Guild, the Mystic Art Association and Central Connecticut State University. She has a bachelor’s degree in art history from the University of Arizona and a master’s degree in counseling psychology and art therapy from the Naropa Institute.

The Wheat Ridge Cultural Commission hosts Meet the Artist events to bring residents, businesses and artists together to explore the creative process.
