I have been passionate about politics my entire life. I have spent most of my life complaining about what was going, and after last year’s election, I decided the time for action had come.Your top three priorities if elected? My top three priorities are:1) To properly manage the growth of Wheat Ridge over the coming years.2) Build community by engaging the public and seeking input from as many of my constituents as possible.3) Finishing the work on 38th Avenue, one way or another. What should the city’s role be in regards to homelessness? In my opinion, there are 3 different kinds of homeless. There are people who cannot maintain a job and a home because they suffer from mental illness or drug addiction, and there are working people who cannot afford housing. I believe the city leaders should work to tackle all of these problems both within the city and in cooperation with our neighboring communities. How would you balance retaining the city’s character, and encouraging redevelopment and growth? I believe that the city currently has an excellent plan in regards to growth. The Comprehensive Plan calls for commercial redevelopment along the major corridors, and mostly leaving the residential neighborhoods as they are. I support that 100 percent. The debate about the width, and parking situation along 38th Avenue seems perennial. How should the city proceed? In my opinion, the three-lane alignment of 38th Avenue will do the most good for the most people in the long run. That being said, I hope to create a plan to finish the pedestrian improvements along the corridor and put it to a vote of the people in order to get it approved.
