I am writing to commend Governor John Hickenlooper on his Executive Order for Colorado to join 13 other states in adopting the Advanced Clean Cars standards. As his term comes to an end, it is heartening to see bold leadership that will have a permanent impact on our climate and clean air.
It is time for Coloradans to stand behind the Governor’s decision and support this rule. Over the summer, the Air Quality Control Commission will accept comments and hold public hearings to determine whether to implement low-emission vehicle standards, zero-emission vehicle standards, or both. We need to tell them in no uncertain terms that we want the maximum benefits to our environment, a commitment to reduce pollution and sell more clean cars.
We know what the future looks like for Colorado — it’s just a question of how fast we get there. Governor Hickenlooper took the first step, and it is up to all of us to keep moving.
