On Saturday, Aug. 12, Wheat Ridge Police will close two major roadways. Drivers should use alternate routes during the following times:1) The Wheat Ridge Carnation Festival Parade takes place on W. 38th Avenue Saturday morning closing that roadway between Ames and Upham Streets starting at 8:30 a.m. until noon. Use W. 44th, W. 32nd and W. 29th Avenues to travel east or west between Sheridan and Wadsworth. Traffic will be busy all weekend for the festival at Anderson Park 4355 Field St. For more information about the event thecarnationfestival.com2) Wheat Ridge police will also close W. 32nd Avenue in Wheat Ridge Saturday afternoon for the safety of cyclists participating in the Colorado Classic bike race. The cyclists will head west on W. 32nd Ave. and police will close the roadway from 1-2 p.m. and again from 4-5 p.m. as cyclists return to Wheat Ridge on their way to downtown Denver. Drivers are encouraged to use other routes through Wheat Ridge and residents are asked to plan accordingly as entranced and exits into some neighborhoods may be limited during those times.
