On Sept. 11, square dancers from throughout the Denver-metro area and statewide honored Colorado’s state folk dance with a free demonstration of Modern Western Square Dancing in action. Square dancers filled the North Rotunda of the State Capitol building in celebration of the Governor’s Proclamation of September as Square Dance Month. Anyone can learn to square dance and be part of the fun!
Modern Western Square Dancing is an energetic and enjoyable way of participating in one of our state’s great traditions--while engaging the mind and body in an excellent wellness activity. The music is energizing, the steps are easy to learn, and the social interactions often lead to a lifetime of fun and friendship.
